Busy Bee!

Wednesday...Gratitude!

No.9!!! Good mid-week all. I can't believe it's half way to the weekend already actually... I'm still on last Friday I think! Or at least sometime last week. Lost the plot somewhere when I spent a few of last weeks nights being up into the early hours drafting ideas for future endeavours. Seems like I'm always planning at the moment, but the ideas just keep-a-flowing! It's actually about 1am now and the only reason I'm up so late is because I visited a friend today with the boys and finally got to see the new bachelor pad he's moved into. It's looking really good too, I'm very proud of him for settling in so quickly and making his space so homely despite his short stay! My son decided to "bless" the place by giving it an impromptu stomping for a good few hours lol! He was very excited to see my friend bless him, so much so that he fell asleep as soon as we arrived there... boys! So getting out of the house one one of my rare hermit journeys has put me back a bit today but it was worth it to make sure that I'm not growing into my chair and of course to catch up with good friends :) So better share with you some lovely people that have been nice to me lately!

TREASURIES I am currently in two actually... but the only problem with one of them is tat for some reason my f11 (or12... whichever) seems to have conked out on me, so I can't enlarge it enough to show you have lovely it is :( It is featuring one of the first prints I listed on Etsy when I first started listing my work on there! So that's put me in a good mood. The treasury is lovely and green, full of gorgeous items and called "Romance" by Anycards on Etsy. On the left is one of my fave items from their store. Click on it to visit the item and their store :)

Once again I am the luck recipient of a kind feature from Irinaphotography on Etsy! I'm in the lovely purple treasury that I've managed to grab a screenshot for at the start of this post, although by the time this is up, the treasury will have expired :( So there's no direct link to it I'm afraid! But I have included another beautiful print from her store on the left for you to click and explore. I've also spotted some jewelry in her store today so have a browse if you have the time :)

FEATURES I'm sure most of you are familiar with Timothy Adam? Well I have been very fortunate to be included as part of his writers team on HandmadeSpark, and although it's something I applied for it is obviously up to Tim to make the decision to include my rantings on his new site so I'm very VERY grateful to him for giving me such an opportunity! I have no idea what I love the most out of his store, there are loads of pieces that entice me, as it's very much my kind of style! I've done the whole close the eyes and point thing and the picture on the left is what I'll show off today lol! Check it out by clicking, and if you have the opportunity, go and visit HandmadeSpark to list yourselves on there (traffic people!) and enjoy all the articles from us blogging lot on there :)

I was really pleased to receive another blog award this week, from a very talented jeweler known on Etsy as PearlatPlay... well last week technically (it's not last Friday woman!), called the "Kreative Blog Award" which is lovely and I'm sure if you read my Sunday post you probably know a bit about it. Well it is now in the far right hand column along with my other awards. A quick scroll down will take you to it :) So yes very appreciative of the thought, and just HAD to compliment the lovely jewelry and PHOTOS (OMG!) in this shop of the jewelry. stunning! The cute pinwheel on the left is one of many amazing pieces in her store :) and if you want to see her lovely blog too then just click here :)

Photogrunt on Etsy, a fellow photographer and a darn good one at that was really kind to include me in a blog feature along with loads of other very talented happy snappers :) I always feel special when my work is alongside other's. One of those confirmations that you're doing something right so a BIG thankyou for making my week Photogrunt! And of course here is an example of one of his own pieces. One of many gorgeous visual abstractions from his store. Please take the time to have a browse.

Lastly I want to say thankyou to a fellow BESTeam-er OurHomeToYours for giving a moment of her time to feature me on her blog. I thought it'd be nice to say thankyou even though it's a task we all must do as part of the team yet it's time for everyone and I'm always appreciate of time given on my behalf :) There is a lovely selection of homely goods and crocheted items in her store! I love these wrist cuffs the most, so just give them a click to visit the listing and browse further form there to see what you might find as a favourite!

So That's it I think for this week. I hope I havent left anyone out... if I have I'll pop you into next weeks feature :)

TaylorHouse on Etsy

Tuesday - BESTeam Mosaic
weekly shoutout to the dedicated workers that like to help other handmade artists...

TaylorHouse on Etsy... Today's feature of a featurer is of Chaucee from Taylorhouse on Etsy. A great store hosting lovely items like knitted warmers like cowls and scarves, yet also boasting a lovely supply of vintage accessories. I'm very impressed with her skills in product photography too, some of the compositions are stunning and in terms of light she makes great use of what's given to her for each of her photographed items. Absolutely everything in that store is tempting just from looking at the photographs! I am a keen knitter myself so I am in love with her cowls and have included a few examples in her mosaic featured a little bit below. Well worth visiting her store!

And Her Blog
... is incredible. If you think her store photos are gorgeous you must check out her blog layout. So bright and absorbing. It took me a while to take my eyes off of her graphics and photographs... Serious awe! It's lovely when you find blogs that have a lot of html input and im guessing that Chaucee has dabbled in it a bit to make her blog look so beautiful. Even how she arranges her adverts is wonderful! This one has a great eye for style, and that's further emphasised by her posts featuring other great sellers from our handmade community. A link on the top left of the page even allows you to submit items for giveaways and submit entires for existing ones. This is definitely a busy blog, yet it shows with all the effort put into creating it! I'm a new enthusiastic follower! So please if you stop by her store, check out this beautious blog too and share your interest too :)

All items are clickable and will take you directly to Chaucee's listings...

HandmadeSpark

Sunday - Coffee and Cake
weekly musings, articles and mostly babble...

Sparkle... I am currently battling the urge to sleep and the bloomin clocks going forward on me all at the same time, so bare with me I may just be slightly more incoherant than usual lol! I'm up late after watching a crazy film with my other half called "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry". I probably should have got on with this stuff (hense the lateness) but our together time is precious being as it's all going to change pretty soon with child number 2!

Speaking of change, boy am I excited tomake this announcement today. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the lovely Tim Adam of Handmadeology, also his ever so wonderful blog and more recently the brand new sparkly HandmadeSpark? Well last weekend I thought I'd give applying to be a guest blogger for HS a go being as it seems to be such an ever increasingly respected place to share the beauty of the handmade community. And since I focus heavily on the newbies in this community I figured that if I had a shot it'd be a great thing to help those I already help on here just that little bit more, as well as be able to give more in terms of my skill base in tutorials, or motivational articles. And besides losing me in his spam folder (always the way with me lol!), he seemed pretty happy with my application and I'm now a guest blogger for HandmadeSpark! Ohhhhhh it's just wonderful! I love being able to write, and to help people in this line of things so for me it's just another fab way for me to make my spare time more productive. My first official post will be up later today. I'm not sure when but he did say Sunday so please keep an eye out for "Finding Your Spark - A Little Encouragement" :)

Quiz... I had this award given to me a few days ago that had an interesting quiz attatched to it. I am officially going to give the PearlatPlay on Etsy credit for awarding the award to me on Wednesday as par my now usual post etiquette, and also to do all the other tasks that stand for retrieving the award! As that post is especially for promoting others, I thought I'd do the quiz that's part of it now, as the other sections are promotion and perfect for Wednesday Gratitude! This will give you all a little bit more about me that you probably don't know at all! lol!

7 Things About Me That You May Not Know:

1. I am still to this day despite being an adult, a bit of a cartoon freak! I especially love Hayao Miyazaki films.
2. I'm not very girly at all, despite the art, knitting and crafts the rest of me is quite boyish lol!
3. I used to be a Senior Self Defence Consultant which was the best job in the world, very sales based but I was good at it... until I got sick and that lasted a year!
4. I have completed Reiki courses, an NLP Practitioners course and even a Dog Grooming course... on top of what i left college with. Blimey!
5. My vast collection of books is probably 99% factual as I'm not really a novel reader!
6. I have like a million self created vegan baking recipes... ok not a million but they're all mine!
7. I can ride a motorbike. Just need to do my DAS test! (babies first...)

Happy Sunday!

AglaeaDesigns

Friday Finds... AglaeaDesigns

This is my 21st interview of the amazing not-so-well-known artists of Etsy!

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!
A bit later than usual today but that would be my fault as I was very last minute asking todays seller for an interview (being as my memory is rubbish and I've spent most of this week being preoccupied with other things as you know!), and I am so grateful to her for managing to get me the interview along in time for today considering she herself has recently had a baby and I can only imagine how tight time is probably right now!
Kelly of AglaeaDesigns is a very talented photographer that I stumbled across a while ago and found myself falling in love with each and every photo I looked at whilst browsing her shop. there are some really inspiring talents emerging in the photography world and I think Kelly has this incredible way of handling her final result for each picture. The images are so dream like and soft, and the fact that she offers gocco prints, and jewelry with her work printed on makes browsing so much more of an experience on each page :)
I'll be quiet now and let you enjoy her interview! Congratulations on your little baby Kelly and thankyou again for taking part today!

(Just click the images to go direct to the listings)

-- Tell me a bit about you! (Name, Age, Location, and give us a random fact whilst you're at it.) Kelly Preusser, 31, Garrison, NY
random fact: I just had my first child 6 weeks ago, a daughter, Aurora Faye and I am loving not working and spending time with her!

-- What is your business about then? My business is mostly photography prints but have started to include photo pendents and handmade cards.

-- How did Etsy come into your life? I just stumbled upon Etsy one day while cruising the web and fell in love with. After a little while of browsing and purchasing some fabulous items from other members I thought, 'hey, I should do this too!'

-- Are you working a day job too? I do have day job, although I am on maternity leave right now. I am a graphic designer and currently working at a printing company where I am the production manager.

-- How long has the artist in you been 'unleashed' for? I guess I have been an artist my whole life. I always was more interested in taking art classes rather then academics while in school. When I was a teenager my uncle gave me my first SLR film camera, which I still have and use. He was a photographer himself and taught me a lot and really sparked my interest in the field. In college I took tons of different kinds of art classes and my interest grew more and more. I just love all forms of art!

-- What has been the inspiration behind your business? My inspiration comes from my life - all that is around me. I live in a beautiful area, have great friends and now a gorgeous daughter who inspires me everyday.

-- If you could describe your products in three words, what would you tell me? pretty, life, color

-- What would an average working day for you be like from dawn til dusk? Well when I was working I worked my day job from 8 to 4, during the day I would check up on my Etsy shop, renew items, check in on forums quickly. When I got home I would continue to do the same, along with listing new items if I had them or working on editing photos until my husband came home from work. Then we'd hang out, eat dinner, watch LOST when it's on!! Then I might hop on the forums again or browse what other sellers are listing before bed.

-- What's your favorite material and techniques to work with? Cameras of course! I have a Canon digital SLR but also use my film cameras still, along with a Holga and a Minolta SLR. I have started a collection of vintage cameras in various stages of working order. I then use Photoshop and Lightroom for editing the photos. I like playing around with different editing techniques and textures on my photos, just trying different things until I get a result I like.

-- What is your ideal vision for the future for you and your work? I'd love to just be able to continue to do what I enjoy. My Etsy shop isn't that successful right now so I'd love for that to take off and maybe do some street fairs, art galleries, and whatever comes my way.

-- Away from work, what do you like to do for fun or to wind down? Right now I just love hanging out with my daughter, getting to know her and her getting to know me - it's just fantastic!

-- What are you likely to search for on Etsy? I love looking at other photographers work, there are so many great artists here! I usually search using pounce - it's a great way to find new work, I can get lost in it!

-- Any last words? I hope everyone enjoys my shop and finds something they love!

Going Strong

Wednesday...Gratitude!

No.8!!! Happy Wednesday ladies and gents! Ahhhhh I am in a good mood today. A sleepy one, but hey what's new? Actually I've been feeling pretty motivated since Sunday night, I found writing in my Sunday Coffee and Cake post was a nice self convincing form of therapy for as we all know I can be a bit off my rocker at times. I've been a very good girl and made grand efforts to give myself a chance to chill out here and there in a day, progressing from shortness of breath into a now quite prominent enveloping gasp. It's nice to know that I am in control again, and can still manage my duties as well as a new feature on my blog! (Ok I'm not perfect lol!). Crikey that's 5 a week now... Anyway! My plans consist of working on more Ephemera in my store and bringing in more jewelry. I'm trying hard not to veer off course from my Art catagory, but I do see potential in introducing my work into crafts, and not just on Etsy but hopefully off Etsy too as I plan to knock my knees together at a craft show eventually, and I guess it's those first craft show jitters, of not entirely being sure of what people will do when they spot you cowering and despairing in your stall. So variety for my art is the aim... It's the way forward! Also I am as usual in awe of the lovely people I keep meeting on Etsy that want to do lovely things for me, so I'll talk about those now and share with you some of these sellers lovely things from their stores/blogs that I think are worth checking out!

TREASURIES I was convinced that this would be the week that my treasury roll would be broken... yet before signing in to write this post, what did i find? a lovely treasury! 3 days left on it so for once I've attatched a link to the actual page. I'm with 11 other really cool artists, in a lovely summery shower of yellows and oranges... ah i could do with some sunshine (saw the weather for this week... bleak isn't the word). This one is from Mariastudio on Etsy and the name of the collection is called "Let's Go Europe!!!". On the left you can find a favourite of mine from Maria's store so please give it a click and check out her work :)

FEATURES I received contact from TagsandButtons again today infact to announce that a little contest I'd entered to win adspace on her giveaway blog was a winner! I was very pleased and thanks so much again for giving me so much of a shout out the past few weeks! I also spotted my own Giveaway on the blog too which has made my day :)

I think this is possibly the first feature for being part of the BESTeam, written by CleverCrafter, and has to be one of my favourites to date. I just found it so complimentary for not just my art, but the way i must freak out everyone on this blog LOL! I love it! And really really grateful to CleverCrafter for writing such a nice feature. So something that I know I'll probably do eventually although then it will be in more detail, is to give a little attention to her store and to show off something that I really like from it. On the left you'll find an awesome guitar pick necklace that i love!!!! And there are many more like that in her store as well as button jewelry. please share the love :)

Lastly, Earringsnation on Etsy left me a convo mentioning a feature on their blog that they included me in which was a really nice surprise the day I got it. Especially as the blog is bloomin GORGEOUS! I mean more than the blog, their store is just incredible. The jewelry is amazing, serious go and check it out. I posted the pendant on the left to show you all, yet I wish I could include more. I have a rule for my Wednesday posts though so just the one example it is... but still... GO... now and visit their store :D The colors are just beautiful!

So That's it I think for this week. I hope I havent left anyone out... if I have I'll pop you into next weeks feature :)

New Feature!

Tuesday - BESTeam Mosaic
weekly shoutout to the dedicated workers that like to help other handmade artists...

Boosting Etsy Shops Team... I have recently been welcomed into a new team which like what I've been doing for ages now, is dedicated to the artists on Etsy that like to give out a helping hand when it comes to other artists trying to promote themselves. I am really chuffed to be part of the team and part of what makes this new venture fantastic is that I can bring a new feature in each week, similar to Wednesday Gratitude that gives a little focus on the workers behind all those helpful efforts. So Introducing Tuesday BESTeam Mosaic!

YouAreMySunshine
...
All items are clickable and will take you directly to Nina's listings...

Nina of YouAreMySunshine on Etsy is a fabulous multitalented crafter of textile and jewelry items. When taking a look through her store you can find the most beautiful layered flowers in a selection of pins, slides, corsages... you name it! But not only that, she creates the most beautiful jewelry which I couldn't resist having a long browse through. My favourites are above, and are clickable so do go and check out her work! She's a very successful Etsian sporting well over 700 sales which to me speaks for itself as to the passion and drive behind her business. Well worth visiting her store :) Enjoy!
